For authors

Become an Indus Books author partner.

Whether this is your first book or your fifth, the arrangement is the same: you keep the rights to your work, you approve the decisions that shape it, and you can see exactly what it sells.

The terms

No surprises buried in the contract.

Publishing agreements have a reputation for being deliberately hard to read. Ours is not. If anything in it is unclear, ask us before you sign — we would rather explain it twice than have you regret it.

You keep your copyright

The work stays yours. What you license to us — territory, format, duration — is written out plainly in the agreement.

Royalties on every format

Print and digital sales both earn. Rates and the reporting schedule are agreed before you sign, not discovered afterwards.

Transparent sales reporting

Regular statements showing what sold, in which format and through which channel. Ask us anything about them.

Your book stays available

Digital editions do not go out of print, and print-on-demand means a modest seller never has to be pulped.

What you get

Support that does not stop at publication.

A named editor

One person who has read the whole manuscript and stays with it, rather than a queue of freelancers.

Cover approval

You see concepts, you give notes, you approve the final. Nobody puts a cover on your book that you dislike.

Launch support

Listings, launch material, and help getting the book in front of the readers who would actually want it.

Author copies

Copies for you, for reviewers, and for the people who put up with you while you wrote it.

First-time authors welcome

You do not need a track record.

A first manuscript from someone nobody has heard of is read as carefully as anything else that reaches us. That is the whole point.
